Discovering the Amazon from Iquitos

Discover the Amazon from Iquitos to the Community of Pucaurquillo in 5 days and 4 nights!

Iquitos known as the capital of the Peruvian Amazon, the largest metropolis in the jungle of Peru, in addition to having a very important river port. Surrounded by forests, colossal rivers like the Amazon and innumerable lagoons and lakes, Iquitos preserves in the city’s architecture overtones of the prosperity of the era of the rubber boom, without forgetting the heritage of Amazonian indigenous cultures exhibited in its main museum. From this city we will depart by boat on the Amazon River and then continue along the Ampiyacu River for 5 hours by speedboat. During the trip to the Community of Pucaurquillo; the flora that characterizes the Peruvian jungle can be appreciated. Upon arrival you will have the opportunity to meet the Pucaurquillo Community, which is inhabited by indigenous Murui – Huitoto and Bora residents. The families are dedicated to agriculture, fishing and crafts. Likewise, this community is the cradle of artists who capture their art in the llanchama (tree bark) with natural dyes and most of the women make use of the chambira to create different handicrafts and utilitarian products.

Warm, humid and rainy, with a minimum annual average temperature of 22ºC and a maximum of 32ºC, varying exceptionally to a minimum of 17ºC on some days between June and July, and a maximum of 36ºC between October and January.
